Course Instructor: Jeffrey P. Burch

Course Description:
There are many varieties of Functional Methods. The most commonly practiced variations are Unwinding and Functional-Indirect. While these two low-force yet powerful treatment methods allow the practitioner to accomplish a great deal, skill in the full scope of functional methods dramatically increases the number of keys on a practitioners ring to unlock well being for a wide range of client situations. I invite you to pick up those keys one at a time over the course of a year. For 2017-2018, this course will teach 16 distinct assessment methods. The assessment methods are organized into a protocol to find the most productive place to work at each moment. Each assessment method provides some information, but not all information. Comparing observations from several assessment methods facilitates finding the most productive place to work at each moment of a treatment session. Some assessment methods will be used in every assessment, others will be brought in as situations arise. For a full list of assessment methods to be taught, see the calendar. 19 treatment methods will be taught along with sub-variations and combinations. Once the best entry point has been determined, treatment methods can be selected to make effective change quickly and comfortably with little effort. In the uniqueness and complexity of our clients, each functional treatment method provides another potential avenue to normalize tight or lax tissue in the body. A classification system for treatment methods will be presented, which can lead to the development of new treatment variations. For a full list of treatment methods taught, see the calendar.
