Teaching Fluidity & Subtle Movement - Undulation Instructor Training
Instructors: Anita Boser, BCSI, RYT
Organizational Host: Carli Herrs, BCSI
Credits: 12 IASI Category 1
Course Description:
This class will teach you to help your clients develop greater flexibility, adaptability, fluidity, body awareness, and the ability to heal after injuries. Teaching others functional movement requires a diverse skill set. Helping clients become aware of their existing patterns is the first step, but can be the most challenging. It is also often the most important step for those with chronic pain. We will focus on how and what to teach to our most challenged clients so we can take our instruction to the next level, including the six fundamentals of fluid movement. The concepts can be adapted to any movement or bodywork practice to enhance instruction for beginners or professionals. After completion of this course, you will have the tools (including sample class plans, handouts, and exercises) to teach undulation workshops. Many strategies for improving client interoception and movement potential will be taught. This is an interactive class; participants will experience and practice the exercises.
Course Objectives
- Understand how movement and interoception affect client outcomes
- Learn how to use motor imagery and mirroring skills to help clients extend the benefits of bodywork
- Learn the six fundamental concepts that change stiff to fluid
- Be able to adapt your current movement lessons, exercises, and poses to the needs of clients who have limited body awareness
- Teach undulation exercises for general spine health, low back and hip pain, neck and shoulder pain, core strength, and scoliosis
- Improve your own movement possibilities and learn how to model them for your clients’ benefit
Instructor Bio:
Anita graduated from The Institute of Structural Medicine in August 2001, where she studied with leading Hellerwork practitioners and has completed over 650 hours of continuing education. She passed the Certification Exam for Board Certified Structural Integration and became a Board Certified Structural Integrator(CM) in 2015. Anita also completed a 500-hour yoga teacher training with Robin Rothenberg and is a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 500-hour level. The movement lesson from session six of the Hellerwork series--undulation--changed her life. She wrote a book about it, Undulation: Relieve Stiffness and Feel Young, and has been teaching people to undulate ever since.
