Bring awareness and empowerment to a vital portion of our bodies that is classically misunderstood, silenced and shamed. Why work the pelvic floor? How do we assess if a pelvic floor is hypertonic? Hypotonic? What systemic experiences would either of those conditions cause? Can YOU embody your pelvic floor?Spend 2 days with Soma Institute instructor Denise Foster Scott for some experiential layered learning to support and clarify your touch skills on and around the pelvic floor while bringing you into a greater awareness of your own body. We will bring insight to the anatomy and physiology of the pelvis, working with trauma, communication and broaden the importance of pelvic diaphragm work. Through the lens of Structural Integration, we will explore structural analysis, pelvic floor treatment, and self-care all while awakening our own connection to what Dr. Ida Rolf called the “seat of your soul.” Instructor Bio(s): Denise Foster Scott is a Board-Certified Structural Integrator and Certified Advanced Soma Practitioner. Seeking a meaningful career, Denise left the world of aviation to receive her training as a Structural Integrator at the Soma Institute in 2007. Shortly after graduation, she began a yearlong internship with Karen Bolesky in which she explored client relationships and delving into the heart of structural work. Denise has a deep fascination about how our individual facets (emotional, spiritual, intellectual) affect the structure of the body and how to use these connections in ourselves to create spacious and openness within. She has special interest in anatomy and structure and pays close attention to the relationship between form and function in her work with clients and students. Denise is the Anatomy and Physiology teacher and a core instructor at the Soma Institute of Neuromuscular Integration®. She currently serves on the International Association of Structural Integration (IASI) Board and is a published author. |
