Course Description: This fall, the Tonic Function Study Group continues with an in-depth exploration of action space, missing gesture, and developmental movement. This group is open to practitioners who have attended previous Tonic Function Study Groups or by instructor permission. We will begin a new cycle of Tonic Function Study Groups in Winter 2023. For information email Aline: [email protected] Function refers to Hubert Godard's wide-ranging perspective on movement. Tonic Function speaks to the role of gravity, perception, coordination, and expression in each individual's experience of being and living. Rebecca and Aline have been inspired by Godard's approach since 1990 and integrate this perspective into every Rolfing® & Rolf Movement® session. As Study Group reading material, we will be exploring & discussing several chapters from Aline's forthcoming book, Reimagining the Body. For a sneak peek, check out Aline's article, "The Missing Gesture" in the July, 2022 DIRI Journal: SFI Journal - Dr. Ida Rolf Institute®Each study group meeting includes embodiment practices that give you tools to use for yourself and your clients, as well as case studies, presentations, and discussion of concepts to help ground theory in practice. Each class session meets on Zoom for 2 hours and 30 min.
